How to participate in EFAP?

Sign the charter
Please read and sign “A Charter for Advanced Practices”! EFAP has drafted and published this document for the kick-off meeting of the network in October 2019 in Madrid.

Stay up to date with EFAP’s activities and subscribe to EFAP’s newsletter. This newsletter will be sent to you by email, once a month.

Join one of EFAP’s  working groups
If you want to contribute to EFAP’s working groups, you should  approach one of the Working Group Chairs and express your interest. Please describe your background, your motivation and your specific research focus.

Attend a meeting or conference
EFAP is organising meetings, workshops and conferences on a regular basis. Usually Working Group (WG) meetings are accessible only to WG members, but EFAP is also organising in parallel a public program in collaboration with local partner institutions.

Participate in the EFAP Summer School
EFAP will organise a series of Summer Schools in the forthcoming years. EFAP’s Summer Schools are training school that address typically, but not exclusively, young researchers from across Europe. Their aim is to share knowledge and support collaboration. Summer schools offer intensive training of up to 15 days on a dedicated topic.

Apply for a short-term scientific mission (STSM)
Short-term scientific missions (STSM) are exchange visits between researchers involved in a COST Action, allowing scientists to visit an institution or laboratory in another COST Member state. These scientific missions may last up to six months in another COST Member/Cooperating Member or Near-Neighbour Country joining the Action. Their aim is to foster collaboration in excellent research infrastructures and share new techniques that may not be available in a participant’s home institution or laboratory.

Apply for a ITC conference grant
Conference Grants are aimed at supporting young researchers from participating Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC) to attend international conferences not specifically organised by EFAP. The applicant must make an oral / poster presentation at the conference in question and must be listed in the official event / conference programme. The main subject of the oral presentation / poster presentation / speech at the approved conference must be on the topic of the Action and must acknowledge COST (see Section 9 of COST Vademecum).
