Short bio

PhD in Anthropology from New University of Lisbon since 2011. Coordinator of several projects on the ethnographic survey of "places of memory" and life stories in Portugal. Taught in both higher and non-higher education, covering several subjects, with greater emphasis on methodologies of research and fieldwork in health courses. In the present I am a researcher at the New University of Lisbon (UNL) through my colaboration at the Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA). I currently focus my research on the exploratory analysis of political and professional discourses on precision medicine, aiming to reveal the mechanisms by which representations of health and illness as well as healthcare practices and services are reconfigurated into this new biomedicine, namely by its inspiration on value-based health care model, and to analyze the implications of such reconfiguration on the help-seeking behaviors adopted by populations.
