Short bio

Nicolas Siepen is a Berlin based artist, filmmaker and theoretician. He is writes frequently on post-Structuralism, Marxism and current questions of new forms of capitalism and left politics. As a journalist he has written for numerous publications, including Springerin, Texte zur Kunst, Frakcija, Phase Zwei, Jungle World, FAZ, Autonomie artistique, Starship und Artfan. He is co-founder of the bookstore and publishing house b_books which was part of Documenta 12 and publishes books on art, performance, urbanism, queer theory, film studies, activism and politics. He was a member of the artist group KlasseZwei and the band ZigarettenRauchen and participated in various international exhibitions and film festivals, among them Berlinale and Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen. Between 2009 and 2016 he was Professor of visual arts at the Academy of Contemporary Arts in Tromso, Norway. Since 2005 he is member of the Perfoming Arts Forum (PAF). He currently collaborates with the art space Vierte Welt in Berlin on the Project Gesellschaften.
