Short bio

Bruno Mendes da Silva has a postdoctoral degree in the scoop of the project “The forking paths: Hypotheses of Interactivity for the Cinema of the Future”, by the University of the Algarve (UAlg), he earned a PhD in Literature and Cinema (Comparative Literature) by UAlg, postgraduate degree in Arts Management from the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM) and a degree in Cinema and Video from the ESAP (Porto School of Arts). He is coordinator of the Communication Sciences Department at the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) at the University of Algarve. He is Vice-coordinator of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication. He is a Guest Professor at Saint Joseph University of Macau. He was a TV Producer and Director at Teledifusão de Macau (TDM), between 1995 and 2000 and has been invited to participate in international video, digital media and film festivals such as FRESH (Thailand), Dokanema (Mozambique), Loop (Spain), the Festival of La Imagen and Ecologias Digitales (Colombia) and FILE (Brazil). He has participated in 11 scientific projects (as responsible investigator or research member) and is the author of several books, book chapters and other scientific publications (over 60). He supervised a number of PhD and Master’s thesis. He is a reviser of several national and international scientific journals. Member of the winning team of the Ceratonia Scientific Award.

He has dedicated the last decade to the research of the relations between Communication, Art and Technology. He is currently Vice-coordinator of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication and member of the Scientific Board of Artech International.
